Tracking: Verifying Student Activity

You can use the Class Progress tool in your course to determine whether or not students have accessed the course, or submitted work in the course.

Here are ways you can check to see if what students report matches their activity in BOLT.

How to verify when a student was logged into BOLT:

If you want to see if a student was logged into BOLT on a day, you can check their Login History.

1. In Class Progress, click a student’s name.
   
   
   
2. Click Login History.
3. The student’s login history displays. Click the “# Sessions” link to display their sessions.
   

How to verify that a student has accessed the course:

If you want to see if a student accessed your course on a day, you can check Course Access.

1. In Class Progress, click a student’s name.
   
   
   
2. Click Course Access.
3. If the student has accessed the course, the dates on which they accessed the course will be listed.
   

How to verify that a student visited or downloaded content

If you want to see if a student has visited/ downloaded a content topic, check Content Progress.

1. In Class Progress, click a student’s name.
   
   
   
2. Click Content.
3. Modules will display with progress bars indicating percentage complete, and a “last visited” timestamp.
4. Click on the “# Topics, # Modules” link to expand the module and see specific content progress in the module.
5. Content topics are listed with how many times the student visited them, how long the student spent during their visits, and a “last visited” timestamp. If a student downloaded a topic, the topic will include a “Downloaded” tag.
   
   
   

TIP: You can also view the Completion Summary tab in the Content tool to see which students have visited or downloaded a content topic. See the Content Help module for more information about this.

How to verify that a student has made an attempt at a quiz

If you want to see if a student has attempted a quiz, you can check their Quizzes Progress.

1. In Class Progress, click a student’s name.
   
   
   
2. Click Quizzes.
3. Under the quiz, the number of attempts the student has made appear.
   
   
   
4. Click Details to display more information.
5. If an attempt was completed, it will display along with any scoring rubrics or grades and the date and time of the attempt. If an attempt is still in progress, the information will not display.
6. Click an attempt link to view the attempt submission view.
   
   

TIP: You can see and manage any attempts in progress if you go the Quizzes tool and use the Grade Quiz feature.
