  2. Download and Install the Zoom app
  3. Open and Sign in to the Zoom app

Create a Zoom Account

If you already have a Zoom account, you can skip this step. If you don’t have a Zoom account, you can create one easily at www.zoom.us. Follow the steps below to create your Zoom account.

  1. Go to http://www.zoom.us and click Sign up for Free
  2. Enter your birthdate
    Date of birth input fields
  3. Choose which method you want to use to sign up:
Zoom sign up methodsEmail: You can either sign up with your own email address or work email address. If you use your work email and your employer has Zoom, this may connect you to your employer single sign-on page, but that’s not always the case.

SSO: If your workplace DOES have Zoom and you want to configure your Zoom account, click Sign in with SSO and then enter your workplace domain, then sign on with your single sign on.

Sign in with Google: If you want to connect your Google account to Zoom and sign up with it, click this.

Sign in with Facebook: If you want to connect your Facebook account to Zoom and sign up with it, click this.

Each way you sign up will affect how you Sign In to meetings. You will choose the method you signed up with every time you want to sign in to the Zoom app.

For our use case we are using a personal email address to sign up for an account. Once you input your email, click the Sign Up button.

  4. You will see a message that says Zoom sent an email to your email address.

Access the Meeting

Once you are signed in to Zoom, either click through the Join URL the host sent you, or enter the Meeting ID on the Join screen of your Zoom app.

If your meeting has a passcode, you will also be able to enter that onscreen to access the meeting.

Since you are signed in, this should allow you to gain access to the meeting.

NOTE: If you are signed in to Zoom, and try to access the Join URL, and still can’t get in the meeting due to authentication, the host may not have configured the meeting for Sign in to Zoom authentication. This is the only way external participants can join our Zoom meetings. If they are unsure how to change this for their meeting, they should reach out to zoomadmin@bloomu.edu for assistance.
