In order to best serve the Commonwealth University community, our instructional systems will be merged. This will allow easier instruction and communication no matter which campus you are affiliated with.

Brightspace Learning Management System Platform

Our learning management system which runs on the Brightspace platform will be merged into one system.

This information is for users of the following Brightspace sites:

At Bloomsburg we call this system BOLT- this will no longer be the case. Our merged site will be called the Commonwealth University Brightspace. 


Commonwealth University Brightspace will be our new LMS site starting Summer 2023. 


Faculty will gain early access to this system in April 2023 to get summer courses set up. 


Faculty and staff must request migration of non-academic courses/sites by April 1 via https://forms.office.com/r/UgkTtARjL0.


All users will gain access to the new site the week of May 15th, 2023. Access to old sites ends on May 21, 2023.


Official cut over to the new site will be May 22, 2023.


We will post the link to the new system once it is available for all end users. Users who gain early access will be sent the link ahead of that posting. Please stay tuned for any announcements about this change.

Zoom Video Conferencing Platform

Our video conferencing platform, Zoom, will be merged into one account for Commonwealth University. This information is for users of the following Zoom sites:


This new Zoom account will be accessible to faculty, staff, and students starting the week of May 15th, 2023. Please stay tuned for any announcements about this change- you may need to take action!


Although accounts will take meetings and recordings with them, we highly encourage users to download recordings they want to maintain and store them in an appropriate storage location. This should be done prior to May 10, 2023.


We will be purging accounts that haven't accessed since May 2022 by March 31, 2023.


We will be purging content through January 20, 2023 on May 11, 2023.

Overall Timeline

  • Brightspace: Faculty gain access April 2023
  • Brightspace: Faculty and staff must request migration of non-academic courses/sites by April 1, 2023.
  • Brightspace: All users gain access the week of May 15, lose access to old sites MAY 21.
  • Zoom: All users should move recordings they want to keep to other storage solutions prior to May 10, 2023.
  • Zoom: All users gain access the week of May 15



Important Tasks for Faculty and Students

Commonwealth University Students should: 

  • Download any documents or content you wish to save from Brightspace prior to May 10, 2023. After the move to one Brightspace, you will no longer have access to your home school’s Brightspace site, and neither will your instructors.
  • Export your ePortfolio if you have one and save to your own storage location. There will NOT be a replacement tool for ePortfolio in the new Brightspace and you will no longer have access to it once the new site is available.
  • Download any Zoom recordings from Zoom Cloud you need to keep by May 10, 2023. Zoom will be migrating recordings with users, but as always if there is something you need to keep- download it to your own storage location for safekeeping. 

Commonwealth University Faculty/Staff should: 

  • Export any courses you want to keep to your own storage location. Please note, two full years of courses will be migrated to the new Brightspace for you to access and copy from. However, NO STUDENT DATA will be migrated with those courses.
  • Download any assignment documents you want to save from Brightspace prior to May 10, 2023. Student data including assignment submissions will NOT be migrated to the new Brightspace. 
  • Export your gradebooks to keep your records! GRADES FROM PAST COURSES WILL NOT BE MIGRATED TO THE NEW BRIGHTSPACE. 
  • Reach out to us by April 1, 2023 to request migration of non curricular courses/sites in Brightspace to the new Brightspace. Use this form: https://forms.office.com/r/UgkTtARjL0
  • Understand there will NOT be a replacement tool for ePortfolio in the new Brightspace and you will no longer have access to it once the new site is available.
